Poor Experience and Bad Support
After years of being an avid buyer of American Eagle pants, I have to say I no longer recommend you buy clothes here. I have been extremely disappointed with their service.
I purchased 3 pairs of pants in July, from abroad because I live abroad, and thought it seemed to be an easy process.
Sadly none of the pants fit, so I needed to return them. American Eagle said I needed to pay for the shipping for the return. Therefore, I essentially ended up paying to try on three pairs of their pants.
Mind you nearly all if not all companies here in the EU do not charge to return clothes, in fact they come with a prepaid return label in the chance your clothes do not fit. So i was really surprised to see I would be expected to pay international shipping to return my item.
Next, there was/is only one location in TN to send your returns from the EU/abroad! On top of this, they were/are unwilling to provide me another location or warehouse to send the package too.
I sent my package with UPS expedited shipping and it was returned to their warehouse on August the 22nd.
I emailed multiple times asking for help and for someone to show me some empathy, but I never received it. Working in customer support myself, regardless of policy, I would of apologised for what has obviously not been a great situation for a customer. After loads of back and forth emails and me asking for someone to to apologize they finally did and agreed to refund my shipping costs.
However, it is now September 7th and I still do not have a refund for my order either! They told me it could take some time previously, but the most recent message I got from Global Care indicated their warehouse is not processing returns at this moment, so the timeframe they would give is irrelevant. I do not understand why their inability to carry out this process means me waiting longer for my money.
The funny thing is, I had to call about this refund for the shipping costs and the support staff at the time indicated to me my pants had made it to the warehouse, but now they are acting as if they never did.
TLDR:
Anyways, I could go on and on about how disappointed I am with the lack of empathy shown, lack of alternative solutions, slow refunds, and more, but I will say this, do not buy from American Eagle anymore. There are so many other wonderful options and companies who are willing to go the extra mile, or even the bare minimum of paying for shipping and offering alternative solutions.
